Several years ago, I put together some rubs for a select group of relatives and friends around the Holidays; shortly after, it became obvious that creating the rubs just once a year wasn’t going to cut it. Within months I was flooded with requests for refills, and my family and friends’ overwhelming response made it clear that I needed to produce my rubs for grill lovers everywhere. It took some time, it took some planning, and it took some real work, but with the constant encouragement of our loyal Rustica Rub fans, we launched Bearboy Gourmet in July of ’08.
Since then we haven’t looked back. We have accumulated some very loyal “foodie” customers that think our products can’t be beat, and we know their praise is genuine and not easily earned. This year (2010) we expanded our Farmer’s Market, event, and festival exposure by nearly 100%. Most weekends our dedicated workforce was out introducing our products to folks in Michigan and working to make more fans of Bearboy Gourmet Rustica Rubs. All indications show that we were successful in doing just that.
We’ve been building for the future, too. Next year, there will be more Bearboy Gourmet booths out demonstrating our products and getting them into the homes of people who love to grill. In addition, we’re certain to continue securing placements in more grocery and specialty food stores. We already have a half a dozen local retailers who we love have carrying our products, but we’re always looking for more. In fact, if you know of anyone, have them give us a call!
Sometimes I’m asked if the Bearboy is a real person and my response always is, “Of course – there’s mythic influential figure behind every great creation and he’s ours.”
